R and I went to KC Wed night and checked into a hotel. He bought really good seats to the Royals game (2nd row, right behind 3rd base dugout), but I decided that I probably couldn't make that walk, so he went with a friend. At that point I was in quite a bit of pain from the ovaries being so enlarged. I joked that I was walking slower than a turtle.
I ordered room service (a nice steak, baked potato and best of all, peach cobbler a la mode YUM), and was asleep by about 8 or 8:30. I figured I would have a hard time sleeping, but I actually slept really well. I was awake before the alarm went off at 5:50, took a shower, and was ready to go.
I thought I would be really nervous and anxious, but I was surprisingly calm the entire morning and even through the process. I think I was just ready to get those eggs out!
We checked in a little before 7. About 7:15 they took me back. They weighed me, took my blood pressure, etc., and then I went to my own little curtained pre-surgical area where I changed into a very sexy gown and socks. The nurse started the IV (she did a great job) and then they brought R back. The remaining time went very fast with the anesthesiologist, Dr Lyles, the nurse anesthesiologist, and the nurse dropping in to talk with us. They wheeled me back and gave me a little medicine once in the room. I remember moving to the table, warm blankets, some lights, them prepping me, and then hearing "Dr Lyles just walked in.". That was it! Next thing I remember is them saying my name, opening my eyes, realizing I was in a different room and saying "Am I done already?"
My post-op nurse was wonderful. It seemed like she was next to me the entire time. I do remember having a lot of cramping pain, and got pain meds 3 different times (seemed like 1 minute apart, but probably not!). She also gave me sips of water, ice and a cracker, so she became my favorite person of the day! Oh wait, 2nd favorite person because my husband nurse was also a favorite.
After that they wheeled me back to the pre-op area where R came to visit. I was anxious to hear how many eggs we got. I think Dr. Lyles stopped by again.
By about 10 or 10:30 we were back to the hotel. I took a pain med and then went to bed! At some point my nurse/husband crawled in with me and we napped until about 3:00 or so. (I got to sleep with my hot nurse!)
We woke up hungry and went out to dinner. That may not have been my best decision. I was wobbly and a little nauseous when we got to the restaurant. I ate a little, but was worried that it wouldn't stay down. We took left overs with us, which I ate within a couple of hours!
I was back in bed by probably 9 pm, and slept really well except for all those times I had to get up to go to the bathroom!
