I am scheduled at 8 am Thursday for egg retrieval. We check in at 7 am. The procedure should be 30 minutes long, followed by 1-2 hrs in recovery. We are going to spend the night in KC on Wed and Thurs. Our suitcase is packed and ready to go! I have snacks, books, magazines and a shiny new book of Sudoku puzzles.
After retrieval the eggs and sperm will get cleaned, then each surviving egg will get injected with a sperm (this is a process called ICSI). They said usually 70% of the eggs survive after retrieval, then 70% usually survive after fertilization. They'll call daily with an embryo count. On day 3 they'll take a cell from each of the embryos to do the embryo testing for any chromosome abnormalities. The doctor recommends this because of our unexplained infertility. 5 days later (5/5/09) they'll put 2 embryos back in! Any remaining viable embryos will get frozen. 8 long days later is the first pregnancy blood test.
I am ready! My belly is very bloated and uncomfortable. Feels kinda like cramps (for you girls out there). Other than that I am feeling good. I got over my nausea, I figured out if I drink a glass of milk in the morning on the way to work, then follow it up with a granola bar at work, I am in good shape and can last until lunch time.
I plan to take the laptop with us, so hope to post Thursday afternoon if I feel like it.

It sounds like it is going just perfect! I loved the frog story too - wow if it was like that for humans, we would be extinct by now! I will be thinking of you on Thursday. This whole journey is pretty incredible.
